Church Allegedly Hit By Molotov Cocktail

ARLETA, Calif. Authorities were investigating a non-injury fire at an Arleta church Thursday that was apparently sparked by a Molotov cocktail and caused slight damage.

The fire outside Arleta Assembly of God church in the 9700 block of Arleta Avenue near Terra Bella Street was reported at 10:50 p.m. Wednesday and extinguished by 32 firefighters within just 15 minutes, Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman d'Lisa Davies said.

"There was a little bit of damage to the building, on the door under the eaves," Davies said. "The heat of the fire also busted a window."

A fire captain reported that evidence of an incendiary device was found at the scene. A burned, broken bottle could be seen in front of the church's damaged door.

Arson investigators were looking into the blaze, which caused no injuries, Davies said.
