KNX 1070 Gives Away Free Gas In Cerritos

CERRITOS, Calif. There were long lines at a Cerritos gas station Wednesday, as KNX 1070 Newsradio provided motorists with free gasoline during the morning rush hour.

With the average price of a gallon of gas costing more than $3.91, the offer of free gas was attracting hundreds of motorists looking to take
advantage of the giveaway, particularly with a three-day weekend on the horizon.

"Southern California has the highest average gas price in the country, and with our long commutes, we're feeling this crisis more than anyone," said
Jeff Federman, KNX general manager and senior vice president. "In much the same way listeners help raise money for victims of natural disasters, now it's the listeners who'll benefit as we try to give something back to the community that has supported us for 40 years."

The KNX Pre-Memorial Day Free Gas Giveaway began at 6 a.m., but motorists began lining up at midnight.

The event ended at 10 a.m.

Each motorist was eligible for up to 10 gallons of free gas.

The giveaway was held at the Shell station at 11004 South St., at the corner of Studebaker Road.
