Man Accused Of Beating Mom With Cell Phone

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (AP) ― A Stevenson Ranch man has been accused of allegedly holding a knife to his mother's throat, trying to choke her and beating her on the head with his cell phone.

Sheriff's Lt. Brenda Cambra says 21-year-old John Willett was charged Wednesday with four felony counts including elder abuse, assault with a deadly weapon and battery on a peace officer.

Cambra says Willett and his mother were arguing Monday afternoon when he allegedly attacked her.

The lieutenant says Willett then pepper-sprayed his mother and grandfather when they tried to lock him in a bedroom.

Cabra says Willett's father arrived and tried to restrain him.

Willett also allegedly kicked a deputy.
