Cats Found Disemboweled In La Quinta
LA QUINTA, Calif.
La Quinta police, who are investigating the apparent killing of two cats in the northern part of the city, found another one disemboweled in the owner's front yard, the assistant chief said on Wednesday.
The owner told police his cat was found in front of his home in the 44000 block of Foxtail Circle with its stomach slit open Wednesday, said La Quinta police Assistant Chief Raymond Gregory.
Another gutted cat was found May 30 along Desert Stream Drive near La Quinta Park, and the other feline was found shot May 29 in the gated community of Starlight Dunes, he said.
All three killings happened within a mile radius of one another, Gregory said, adding that the case was turned over to sheriff's deputies in Indio.
"Unfortunately, in this latest incident the body was disposed of ... which makes it difficult," he said.
Gregory urged North La Quinta residents to keep an "extra close eye on their pets and pay attention to what's going on in their neighborhood."
Patrol officers are aware of the killings and will keep a "close eye out for any suspicious activity," he said.
