A man was doing stunts with his car early Saturday in Compton when a group of men approached him and shot him dead, according to a sheriff's deputy.
The victim, who authorities would not identify, was "busting doughnuts," or spinning his car in circles, in front of his home in the 1600 block of Mona Boulevard.
The shooting was reported at 12:45 a.m., said Deputy Jeff Gordon of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.
As he parked in his driveway, three men approached him, Gordon said.
The group exchanged words before the suspects then fired several rounds, striking the victim multiple times, Gordon said.
The suspects fled the scene on foot, he said.
The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was declared dead, Gordon said.
