A solo driver of a small red Mitsubishi Eclipse car was taken into custody after a long chase which ended in a collision with a parked pickup truck near the Burbank Airport Monday.
The pursuit began when the CHP tried to pull the driver over for speeding at about 6 p.m. Monday in the Newhall area on the Antelope Valley (14) Freeway, according to CHP Officer Jose Nunez.
The suspect refused to yield and deputies were forced to discontinue the chase because of the suspect's reckless driving.
The driver drove at high speeds the wrong way, clipping cars, running
red lights and nearly running down a pedestrian.
He drove into the Burbank Airport, again driving the wrong way. Finally, at Hollywood Way and Victory Boulevard, he hit a car in the intersection, then smashed into a parked pickup truck.
Burbank police took the driver into custody, after Tasering him, at about 6:30 p.m. Monday.
