A Los Angeles Airport Police officer driving home with his canine partner crashed a department-issued vehicle into a vehicle stopped with its lights out at the scene of an earlier accident on the Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway, authorities said.
The Airport Police officer, whose name was unavailable, was traveling on the eastbound 105 and moving from the car pool lane toward the shoulder to see if California Highway Patrol officers needed help, when his patrol car collided with a vehicle in the No. 1 lane shortly after 1 a.m., according to Sgt. Jim Holcomb of the Airport Police Department.
Neither the officer or the dog, a Belgian Malinois, was hurt. It was unclear how damage much the police car sustained.
