Police have arrested two men in connection with the early Wednesday morning shooting death of a 49-year-old Burbank woman.
Armen Mangasaryan, 29, of Burbank, and Arpiar Tergalstanyan, 20, of Glendale, were being held without bail, said Burbank police Sgt. Robert Quesada.
Mangasaryan was scheduled to be arraigned Friday at the Burbank Superior Court, Burbank police Lt. William Berry said. He was arrested Wednesday evening. Tergalstanyan was arrested early Thursday, according to officials.
The victim allegedly owed a financial debt, said Quesada.
"The motive is believed to be a failure to repay a monetary debt. This was not a random shooting."
Authorities went to the 4200 block of West Jacaranda Avenue, near North Toluca Park Drive, at about 12:20 a.m., Burbank police Lt. William Berry said.
Officers arrived to find the victim lying in the doorway of the home.
The woman, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released pending notification of her next of kin, believed to be living outside the U.S.
"She opened the door, apparently after someone knocked or rang the doorbell, and she was shot," Quesada said.
The woman's boyfriend, who was also at the victim's residence at the time of the shooting was questioned, but was not considered a suspect, Quesada said.
