Man's Body Found In Santa Ana River

SANTA ANA A passerby on a trail atop an embankment along the dry Santa Ana River Friday discovered the body of a male resting up against the embankment and a wall supporting a bridge, police said.

Officers and homicide investigators went to the vicinity of 3200 W. Fifth St. just before 8 a.m. and determined the death to be "suspicious," but no other information was initially available, said Santa Ana police Cpl. Jose Gonzalez.

Gonzalez said the only information he had was that the body was that of a male, and he did not know the person's age.

The body could not be seen from the street, only by someone atop one of two bicycle and running paths that line the river embankments, which are across from the Willowick Municipal Golf Course, Gonzalez said.
