The U.S. Coast Guard has suspended an air and sea search for two people who may have been aboard a burning powerboat off the Los Angeles County coast.
Lt. j.g. Tyler Stutin says the Coast Guard searched 148 square miles of ocean before calling off the search shortly after 11 a.m. Wednesday.
The 27-foot "Casey Lynn" was found burning Tuesday afternoon about two miles offshore. Harbor Patrol firefighters doused the blaze and the boat was towed to Marina del Rey.
Stutin says there was an early report that two people were onboard but nobody was found. He says if anyone was aboard and jumped into the 60-degree water, it's doubtful they're still alive.
