A man was tied up with an electrical cord and pistol-whipped Tuesday during a home-invasion robbery in Porter Ranch, authorities said.
The intruder kicked in the door of the home in the 20000 block of Wynfreed Lane at 10:24 a.m., said Los Angeles police Officer Norma Eisenman of the Media Relations Section.
The homeowner, whose name had not been released as of late Tuesday afternoon, was pistol-whipped about the head by the suspect, but managed to make his way outside. The bloodied man was found on his lawn by neighbors, who called police.
Late this afternoon, police said the gunman may still be inside the home. A team of sharpshooters was on scene.
The injuries suffered by the victim, who is about 70 years old, were not believed to be life-threatening, authorities said.
The suspect was described as a man about 50, of Korean descent, who was wearing dark clothing and sunglasses, Eisenman said.
LAPD Sgt. Larry Bavaro said that the homeowner "was tied up and hit over the head inside his house and he managed to escape outside."
"We're not sure if he lost consciousness or if he just fell onto the
lawn, and that's when the neighbor saw him," the sergeant said.
