Numerous Charges Dropped In Pellicano Case

LOS ANGELES (AP) ― The prosecution has rested in the Hollywood wiretaps trial of private investigator Anthony Pellicano and a co-defendant.

A federal judge has granted the prosecution's request to dismiss 28 charges filed against private investigator Anthony Pellicano and a co-defendant.

The government made the request Thursday because some of the alleged victims weren't available to testify and other counts were redundant, according to Assistant U.S.. Attorney Dan Saunders.

More than 35 charges remain against Pellicano and former Los Angeles police Sgt. Mark Arneson.

Pellicano begins his defense on Friday.
