Three years ago, artist Bill Jeralds had little chance at survival.
Admitted to the ER with pneumonia, his symptoms quickly degraded to Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome and two collapsed lungs, and he fell into a coma for three and a half weeks.
He made a miraculous recovery, but awoke having lost most of his life's memories and short-term memory, having to learn to walk, talk and eat anew.
Throughout the ordeal, Jeralds' wife, Shannon, was a source of love and support.
The Ventura County resident now draws from that love and his endless supply of hope as inspiration for his "angels", woodwork pieces that are sold in stores.
One of Jeralds' creations is even headed to the Vatican and will be presented to the Pope.
