Police said a rape, kidnapping and carjacking suspect shot and wounded by an officer in Long Beach when he was running toward detectives with a gun in his hand.
Los Angeles police said in a statement that Angel Samos was under arrest Monday in a hospital with a single bullet wound.
He was expected to survive.
Police suspect the 29-year-old of raping his ex-girlfriend, shooting another woman during a carjacking and kidnapping four children including two of his own in Los Angeles on Saturday.
The statement said that Samos tried to run from LAPD officers while holding a gun, but ran toward detectives, and one of them shot him.
The statement said it's unclear whether Samos fired his gun.
Police safely rescued the four children.
