A convicted child molester must stand trial for failing to register in California as a sex offender.
A judge in Torrance made the ruling Friday. If he's convicted, 35-year-old Wynford Murray could face 25 years to life in prison because the conviction would count as his third strike under California's felony law.
Murray, who had been living under the Redondo Beach pier, remains jailed.

Murray spent six months in jail after his 1997 New York conviction for sexually touching two girls, ages 3 and 5. Two years ago, he was convicted of failing to register as a sex offender in Virginia.
