Los Angeles police said burglars broke into an office building and stole computers containing credit card numbers, legal documents and other sensitive information from at least 60 businesses.
Officer Karen Rayner said the theft at the Chateau Office Building in Woodland Hills occurred early Saturday.
The offices of attorneys, accountants, a talent agency and other businesses are assessing the extent of their losses.
Some business owners said monitors, printers, copiers and other equipment were left behind, leading them to conclude that the thieves were after the information contained on the hard drives.
