A 54-year-old Rancho Cucamonga chiropractor who was shot as she drove on the eastbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway in Pomona died on Thursday of her injuries, authorities said.
Deborah Lynn Lepper died at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center at 12:30 on Thursday morning, about two hours after Wednesday night's shooting, said California Highway Patrol Officer Ed Zorrilla.
After Lepper's gray 2004 Chrysler Sebring crashed near White Avenue about 10:30 p.m., county fire department paramedics found that she had suffered a gunshot wound to the head, CHP Sgt. Michael Stefanoff said.
The driver's side window was shattered, according to broadcast reports.
"Currently, we do not have any eyewitnesses to this shooting," CHP Capt. William Siegl said. "We are seeking the public's assistance in this case. We are asking that anyone with any information -- that saw anything at all on the freeway -- to contact us." Anyone who may have seen the attack was urged to call the CHP's Baldwin Park office at (626) 338-1164, or the CHP's Southern Division Investigative Services Unit at (323) 644-9550.
