Forecasters warned of potentially damaging winds in valley and inland areas Wednesday.
The National Weather Service said a high wind watch would be in effect Wednesday evening through Thursday afternoon.
Thirty- to 40-mph winds out of the north are expected across the coastal range, including the Hollywood Hills. Gusts below canyons and passes could come as fast as 65 mph, according to the NWS.
In the San Fernando, San Gabriel and Santa Clarita valleys, as well as in the San Gabriel and San Bernardino mountain ranges, the gusts could be stronger.
Around the city, the winds will be gusty, but mostly in the in the 15- to 25-mph range. Highs are forecast to be in the lower 60s, according to the NWS.
Strong offshore winds over the past few days have caused a variety of problems, from extensive power outages -- about 10,000 Department of Water and Power customers were in the dark Christmas Eve -- to wind-related fires. A gust across a 4,100-foot peak near Castaic was clocked at more than 100 mph.
