Pro, Anti-Israel Protesters Rally On Miracle Mile

LOS ANGELES (AP) ― A Los Angeles protest and counter protest over Israel's military offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip has ended with no arrests.

Palestinian supporters waved flags and carried signs outside the Israeli Consulate on Wilshire Boulevard as Israeli backers lined the sidewalk on the opposite side of the street.

Police closed a section of the busy thoroughfare at the height of rush hour and monitored the demonstrations from the middle of the street.

Police said the protests ended around 8 p.m. after demonstrators heeded dispersal orders.

More than 400 Palestinians and four Israelis have been killed since the clash began a week ago.
