Authorities Monday were asking for the public's help in finding the gunman who shot a man to death in an unincorporated area of Whittier, a sheriff's deputy said.

Authorities Monday were asking for the public's help in finding the gunman who shot a man to death in an unincorporated area of Whittier, a sheriff's deputy said.
The shooting occurred about 3:45 p.m. Sunday in the 10900 block of Ben Avon Street, near Norwalk Boulevard, said Deputy Derrick Thompson of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.
The victim was pronounced dead at a hospital, Thompson said.
No suspect description was immediately available.
