Whittier Man, 56, Dies After Fight With Son, 34
WHITTIER
Police say a 56-year-old Whittier man is dead and his 34-year-old son is behind bars on suspicion of murder charges.
The 34-year-old will appear in court Monday. The man's father, identified as Joe Anthony Valverde, collapsed minutes after the two reportedly had a physical altercation.
The Whittier Daily News reported that Valderde had a history of medical problems. An autopsy will determine the exact cause of death.
Valverde and his son, Isaac Gutierrez, reportedly had a fight Thursday outside a house in the 10300 block of Colma Road.
Valverde went inside his home, called deputies, then collapsed before
officials arrived.
He was reported dead a few minutes later at Whittier Hospital.
