Man Allegedly Stabs His Wife To Death

WESTMINSTER, Calif. A man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his wife to death inside a Westminster apartment, where they had agreed she would retrieve her two children after work, police said.

Westminster police and Orange County Fire Authority paramedics were dispatched to a residence in the 14000 block of Rondeau Street around 7 p.m. Monday after a man made a 911 call claiming he had just killed his wife, according to a Westminster Police Department statement.

The woman had "dropped off the children in the morning, went to work, and then came back over to pick them up," Westminster police Det. Alan Aoki said, adding that the violence took place when she returned.

Though the suspect and the victim had agreed to the visit and pick-up time, it was not a common arrangement.

Officers and paramedics found the victim, who had been stabbed in the chest, non-responsive.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

The couple's children, ages 8 and 15, were inside the residence at the time of the violence as well as their 12-year-old nephew and 19-year-old niece, police said. It was not immediately known if any of the four witnessed the slaying.

The children have been placed in the temporary care of the Orange County Social Services, while the niece and nephew were released to their parents.

The suspect, whose name was not immediately released, was brought to the Westminster Police Department, where he was being interviewed by homicide detectives late Monday night, according to police. The motive for the killing is under investigation, Aoki said.
