Crows In L.A. County Test Positive For West Nile
LOS ANGELES (AP) ―
Officials say two crows found dead in the last month in Los Angeles County have tested positive for the West Nile virus.
The Greater Los Angeles County Vector Control District said Thursday that the first dead crow was found in Santa Clarita on April 28. The second was found in Woodland Hills on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, the Orange County Vector Control District announced that 13 birds collected earlier this month tested positive for the virus.
The virus is transmitted to humans and animals through bites from mosquitoes, which become infected when they feed on infected birds.
The most vulnerable are elderly and people with weakened immune systems.
