Police Monday were looking for a fake cop who pulled over and sexually harassed a woman in West Covina, officials said.
The victim, whose name was withheld, was driving near Francisquito and Conlon avenues in West Covina just after 12 a.m. Sunday when a man used a white spotlight and loudspeaker system to pull her over, according to West Covina police Lt. Marcos Plebani.
The man, who was wearing a blue uniform with an oval-shaped badge, approached the woman and began making sexual comments, West Covina police Lt. Dan Brooks told the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.
The woman set off her car alarm in panic and the impersonator fled.
Plebani described the suspect as a man in his 40s with a brown, bushy mustache and a muscular build.
Motorists should note that police typically show red lights when making a traffic stop, Brooks told the Tribune.
If suspicious, drivers should pull over in a well-lit, populated area.
