A doctor has been sentenced in Orange County to more than 4 1/2 years in prison for prescribing powerful painkillers to patients who did not have a legitimate need for the medications.
Vu Le was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty in June to 15 felony counts.
The 46-year-old Le, who ran a medical clinic in Westminster, admitted giving prescriptions to people who didn't need them in exchange for up to $150 over a two-year period. He told federal authorities that 70 percent of his total revenue came from his pain management practice and he made approximately $50,000 a month.
