Venice Boulevard Shooting, 1 Killed 1 Wounded

One man was killed today and another wounded in an attack by two suspected gang members in the Mid City area of Los Angeles, police said.

Christian Gutierrez, 27, and a man about 20 years old were standing in
front of an apartment house in the 4600 block of Venice Boulevard, in the
Crenshaw Square neighborhood near Crenshaw Boulevard, at about 1:20 a.m., when two suspected gang members walked up and at least one opened fire, said Norma Eisenman of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Gutierrez died at the scene, police said.

The other man was shot in his stomach and taken to a hospital in critical-but-stable condition, Eisenman said. According to ABC7, the fatal victim was an animal shelter employee. Anyone with information on the shooting was asked to call Wilshire Homicide Detective Frank Carrillo at (213) 473-0446 or (877) 529-3855.
