Woman Killed In Van Nuys Apartment Fire

LOS ANGELES (AP) ― A woman was killed Thursday morning in an apartment fire in Van Nuys.

A Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman says the fire was extinguished shortly after it was reported at 2 a.m.

Spokesman Erik Scott says once inside the two-story building, firefighters  found a woman in a bedroom who was not breathing and had no pulse.

The woman was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Officials are investigating the cause of the fire in the 14100 block of West Erwin Street.
