El Monte police Tuesday continued searching for a couple who allegedly tried to con a female shopper at the Valley Mall, before abducting her and getting her to withdraw $400 from an ATM.
When the victim refused to get involved with the suspects on Dec. 20, the female suspect pulled out a knife and ordered her into a white Ford Explorer, El Monte police Detective Ralph Batres.
The woman was driven to her home, ordered to get a bank card, then driven to a Bank of America branch in San Gabriel, where she withdrew $400 and gave it to the woman, authorities said.
Police circulated ATM security video of the female suspect, described as Hispanic, about 45 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing "more than 200 pounds," Batres said.
Authorities were investigating whether the woman was involved in similar crimes.
Anyone with more information about the case was urged to call police at (626) 705-1981.
