4 Killed In Fiery Crash On 10 Freeway

Victims Were Trapped In Car Upside-Down

LOS ANGELES (AP) ― The California Highway Patrol has reopened several lanes on the Interstate-10 that were closed following a fiery crash that killed four people.

CHP spokeswoman Officer Heather Hoglund says access ramps on the westbound Santa Monica Freeway at Western Avenue remain closed but the main roadway is open.

Hoglund says a Lexus left the roadway and crashed into a pillar supporting the Western Avenue overpass around 8:20 Sunday morning.

The car burst into flames and two men and two women in the car died. The cause of the crash was not immediately known.

Hoglund says baby items were found in the car and authorities searched for evidence a baby also perished, but no child was found.

No other vehicle was involved.
