Universal City Hosts International Gang Summit

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. (AP) ― Law enforcement officials from the United States, Central America, Canada and Spain gathered Monday for a summit meeting focusing on international gang crime.

The International Chiefs of Police Summit on Transnational Gangs takes place at the Universal City Hilton Hotel.

One of the gangs, MS-13, started in the U.S. but has since spread around the world as its members get deported.

Los Angeles Police Chief William Bratton and Sheriff Lee Baca will detail the launch of a new officer exchange program, in which officers from the El Salvador Civil National Police team up with Los Angeles officers.
