United Airlines is adding a new charge for heavier passengers.
The airline is enforcing a new policy to charge overweight passengers for two seats to fly.
Under the new rules, passengers who are unable to fit into a single seat; are unable to properly fasten their safety belt; or are unable to put the seat's armrests down, will be denied boarding unless they purchase an extra seat.
If no empty seat is available, the passenger will not be able to fly. The policy applies to tickets bought on or after March 4, 2009.
