Riverside Man Found After Possible Abduction

Apparent Abduction Victim Beaten, Dropped Off In Northside Neighborhood

RIVERSIDE, Calif. Riverside police were investigating Saturday the disappearance of a man who was reported missing from his Riverside residence early Friday morning.

Transito Ramos, 47, turned up at Riverside Community Hospital shortly before 10 p.m. Friday night, after he had been dropped off in his neighborhood by unidentified persons. A neighbor spotted the badly beaten Ramos on the street and took him to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Ramos went missing when he took out the trash about 5:30 a.m., Friday, but failed to come back into the house. When his wife went to look for him, she found the full trash can, tipped over at the curb, but no sign of her husband. According to a report, Ramos was apparently abducted, beaten and held for several hours.

At about 9 p.m., Friday, the family reported that Ramos phoned them, claiming to be in Mexico, and not to expect him for several hours. He was dropped off in his neighborhood a short time later.

Anyone with information helpful to this investigation is asked to call Riverside Police Detective Dave Smith at (951) 353-7103 or Detective Jim Brandt at (951) 353-7137.
