A man suspected of murder in Pasadena was taken into custody at the San Ysidro border crossing as he attempted to enter the United States on Sunday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers said today.
Tracy Alan Bartlett, 44, of Encino, was driving a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer when he was taken into custody, according to Vince Bond of CBP. He showed his valid U.S. passport and was arrested after his name was checked against a law enforcement database.
No information has made available about the murder warrant.
Bartlett was then handed over to sheriff's deputies, who are expected to send him to Los Angeles County.
"We have stepped up our querying of the names of travelers with good reason," said Gurdit Dhillon, CBP director of field operations in San Diego.
"More name queries equates to more interceptions at the border, which in turn results in more criminals off the streets of communities."
