Thousand Oaks Tightens Outdoor Smoking Ban

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (AP) ― Smokers can no longer light up in outdoor gathering places, such as areas around the Civic Arts Plaza, as well as playgrounds in Thousand Oaks.

The City Council voted 5-0 in favor of an ordinance restricting outdoor smoking. Restaurants with outdoor patios can seek an exemption and tobacco shops are exempt from the law.

The ordinance is designed to reduce exposure to secondhand smoke in outdoor settings.
