Female Soldier From Temecula Dies In Iraq

U.S. Army Probing The Death Of Mary Jane Jaenichen

TEMECULA The U.S. Army Monday was investigating the death of a 20-year-old female soldier from Temecula who died in Iraq over the weekend.

Mary Jane Jaenichen, who was killed under non-combat related circumstances, had been stationed in Iskandariyah, Iraq, since May 2007. She was serving with the Brigade Troops Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, based at Fort Stewart, Ga.

She died Friday, U.S. Army Lt. Colonel Randy Martin, who is in Iraq, said during a telephone interview.

Martin said he could not comment on the possible cause of death until the investigation was completed.

Jaenichen joined the Army in June 2006.
