LOS ANGELES (AP) ―

LAUSD teachers are protesting the state's proposed budget cuts for education.
Red-shirted teachers hoisting protest signs and shouting into bullhorns skipped class Friday in the nation's second-largest school district in order to protest proposed state budget cuts for education.
Members of the Los Angeles teachers' union used their first period Friday morning to get their message across.
District officials said they don't know yet how many of their 48,000 educators are taking part.
Administrators are watching the kids, but there is little teaching going on.
The district said the protesting teachers will be docked for the hour-long demonstration.
