Police said a truck driver died after his ethanol-filled tanker rolled over and burst into flames along the 91 Freeway.
California Highway Patrol reported that the fiery crash occurred around 5:45 p.m. Saturday when the truck veered off the roadway for unknown reasons.
The 91 and 710 freeways were shut down, with traffic diverted to surface streets. The 710 was reopened around 7 p.m., although the 91 remained closed late Saturday.
The number 1 and number 2 lanes were opened for the westbound-91 at the I-710. The number 3 lane remained closed Sunday until further notice, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The eastbound-91 transition road to the northbound I-710 connector was closed until further notice due to repair work from a previous collision that occurred on June 13, 2009, the CHP said.
CHP Officer David Porter said investigators were looking into what caused the truck to veer off the roadway and are conducting safety checks of freeway ramps in the wake of the fire.
