Teen, 18, Shot And Killed In Sylmar
SYLMAR
An 18-year-old man was shot and killed in Sylmar Friday morning, police said.
The shooting occurred in the 13500 block of Kismet Avenue at 12:15 a.m., said Officer Kathy Simpson of the Los Angeles Police Department's Mission Station.
The victim died at the scene. The victim's name was not immediately released.
Reportedly, the victim and the shooter were involved in some type of argument. "We don't know the details," Simpson said. "It does not appear to be gang-related."
A man drove to the scene in a Honda Accord and spoke to police, she said.
"During the investigation, there was a male that returned to the scene.
We're not calling him a suspect," Simpson said. "As we speak, he is a
witness. He's being held for questioning."
Kismet Avenue and other area streets were sealed off for a time as police investigated the crime scene and interviewed other witnesses.
