Two Suspicious Devices Exploded In Menifee
MENIFEE, Calif.
The FBI and sheriff's department Friday night exploded two devices that resembled pipe bombs, allowing evacuated residents to return to their homes in a rural area of western Riverside County.
The evacuation affected about 10 homes near Holland Road from 6 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Friday after investigators issued a sealed, federal search warrant at a residence in a subdivision, FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said.
Another device had been found earlier in the day by FBI investigators in a field just off Holland Road. The investigators called Riverside County sheriff's deputies, authorities said.
Both devices were detonated by a remote-control device, Eimiller said. She said she could not comment on what initiated the searches, or on the sealed search warrant, other than to say Friday's events stem from an ongoing investigation.
No arrests were reported.
