A man who fell from the Colfax Avenue overpass into the Los Angeles River was reported in critical condition en route to a hospital, a fire official said early Sunday.
Firefighters responded to the river near the 4000 block of Colfax next to CBS Studio Center about 11:30 p.m. and found the man in the nearly dry riverbed, Brian Humphrey of the fire department said.
The man had been climbing down a support structure from the bridge with several friends when he fell, Humphrey said.
