Coyote Causes Man To Crash SUV Into Wall

LOS ANGELES (CBS) ― A man who tried to avoid a coyote crashed his sport utility vehicle through a backyard wall of a Studio City home and came within feet of plunging into a pool, authorities said.

The crash occurred about 11:20 p.m. Tuesday in the 11500 block of Dona Pepita Place, said a Los Angeles police officer from the Valley Traffic Division.

The Toyota 4Runner was on Dona Pepita when a coyote ran out in front of it, the officer said, adding that the driver swerved to avoid the animal when he lost control of the SUV and crashed into the wall of a home's backyard.

The vehicle stopped a few feet from the pool, the officer said, adding that a four-foot pole on the sidewalk slowed down the vehicle's momentum.

No one was injured, he said.
