24 Starbucks Shops Shot Down In L.A., O.C.

LOS ANGELES

Starbucks says 24 of the 600 coffee shops it plans to shut in the United States beginning July and continuing through mid-2009 are in Los Angeles and Orange counties.

But only three are in Los Angeles -- in Brentwood, Exposition Park and Leimert Park.

The Seattle-based company announced earlier this month that it planned to close more than 600 underperforming stores across the country and lay off about 12,000 workers amid weakening sales. Of the stores being closed, 89 are in California.

The cities and addresses of the local Starbucks closures, according to a listed posted on the Starbucks Web site, are:

-- Alhambra: 1 E. Valley Blvd.

-- Anaheim: 2420 E. Katella Ave.

-- Bellflower: 16601 Bellflower Blvd.

-- Brea: 703 E. Imperial Highway; 2435 E. Imperial Highway

-- Castaic: 31818 Castaic Rd.

-- El Monte: 9327 Garvey Ave.

-- Huntington Park: 2901 Florence Ave.

-- La Mirada: 16610 Valley View Ave.

-- Laguna Beach: 636 N. Pacific Coast Highway

-- Lake Forest: 22621 Lake Forest Dr.

-- Los Angeles: 4371 Crenshaw Blvd.; 1005 W. Martin Luther King Blvd.

-- Mission Viejo: 28171 Marguerite Parkway; 27775 Santa Margarita Parkway

-- Monterey Park: 141 N. Atlantic Blvd.

-- Norwalk: 12200 Civic Center Dr.

-- Santa Ana: 1649 E. First St.

-- Santa Clarita: 26503 Golden Valley Rd.

-- Santa Monica: 732 Montana Ave.
