Man Arrested After Standoff In Mount Washington

LOS ANGELES (CBS) ― A man accused of leading Los Angeles police on a chase in a minivan without license plates was in jail Sunday.

Police had tried to pull over the minivan, but the suspect fled and soon forced his way into an apartment, Sgt. Douglas Bowers of the Northeast Station said.

The unidentified suspect eventually surrendered to authorities at around 11 p.m. Saturday after a standoff with SWAT officers near Figueroa Street and Avenue 47, according to authorities.

Police had evacuated some adjacent apartments and no one was injured.

The suspect could face felony evading and false imprisonment charges, according to police.
