Standoff Ensues After Man Shoots Brother In Head

LOS ANGELES (AP) ― Police say an armed man has barricaded himself in a Los Angeles home after fatally shooting his brother in the head several times.

Police spokeswoman Karen Smith says the suspect has been barricaded in the mid-Wilshire area since Wednesday afternoon and police continue to negotiate his surrender.

Smith says the victim was leaving the house at about 5:30 p.m. when his brother called him back inside and shot him. A housekeeper who was waiting outside with her son heard shots and reported the incident.

Police removed the wounded brother from near the home's entrance and paramedics transported him to a hospital, where he died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Smith says the brothers are middle-aged.

No names have been released.
