Autopsy Pending For Man Who Crashed Into Hotel
LOS ANGELES
An autopsy is pending on the body of a 62-year-old man that crashed an SUV into a South Los Angeles hotel and died, possibly of a heart attack, a sheriff's lieutenant said.
The accident took place at the Desert Inn on South Western Ave. around 9:15 p.m. Saturday, said Lt. Patrick Bearse of the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department's Lennox station.
Authorities identified the driver as Martin Morgan Baird, 62, of Inglewood, according to coroner's Lt. John Kades, who added that an autopsy was pending to determine the cause of death.
Baird was declared dead at Memorial Hospital of Gardena, Kades said.
Authorities said Baird apparently suffered a heart attack, but they are unsure if it took place before or after the crash, Bearse said. No one at the hotel was injured.
