U.S. Soldier From Murrieta Killed In Afghanistan
DOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Del. (AP) ―
The remains of seven service members killed supporting Operation Enduring Freedom have been returned to the United States.
The bodies of six soldiers -- including one from Southern California -- and one sailor were returned yesterday to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.
The service members included 20-year-old Pfc. Nicolas H.J. Gideon of Murrieta.
He died Monday of injuries suffered in Paktya, Afghanistan, when insurgents using small arms and rocket-propelled grenade fires attacked his unit.
He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 40th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, based at Fort Richardson, Alaska.
