A man was charged with DUI and driving with a suspended license Friday after he allegedly crashed into a Los Angeles Police Department patrol car in North Hollywood, injuring two officers.
Silviano Hernandez Ramirez, 41, of North Hollywood, allegedly had a blood-alcohol level of more than 0.15 percent when he made an illegal u-turn on Lankershim Boulevard near Kittridge Street around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, colliding with a police cruiser, prosecutors said.
The collision caused the patrol car to strike another vehicle. Both LAPD officers sustained injuries -- the most serious being a broken nose, according to the District Attorney's Office.
The driver of the other vehicle was taken to a hospital after complaining of pain.
Ramirez was charged with DUI causing injury and a misdemeanor count of driving on a suspended or revoked license.
He was expected to be arraigned Friday in Van Nuys Superior Court.
