The driver wasn't carrying identification, but that wasn't his fatal mistake.
Police say a male motorist was headed the wrong-way on Long Beach's Queensway Bridge about 11:45 p.m. Friday when he collided head-on with the driver of a shuttle bus.
The wrong-way driver died at the scene and was not carrying identification, according to Long Beach police Lt. Rick Colbert.
According to Colbert, the man -- in a Honda Civic -- was speeding when he swerved onto the wrong side of the road and struck a shuttle bus.
Saturday afternoon police identified the driver as Samuth Pen, 19, a resident of Long Beach.
Long Beach police spokesperson Jackie Bezart said seven of the 11 passengers on the shuttle bus had "minor to moderate" injuries but none was considered life-threatening.
Police are asking anyone who might have witnessed the accident, or events leading up to it, to call them at (562) 570-7355.
