Police were sent to the 5200 block of Huntington Drive, near Eastern Avenue, in response to a family dispute and battery call, said Officer Jason Lee of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section.
Officers found an injured female at the scene, who was treated and later hospitalized, according to LAPD Deputy Chief Sergio Diaz.
A male suspect returned to the scene while the woman was being treated, and got into a fight with officers, he said.
In the midst of the altercation, the suspect assaulted an officer, choking him unconscious, Lee said.
