7 Wounded In South L.A. Drive-By Shooting

LOS ANGELES

Parties are supposed to have dancing, dip and dessert. But certainly not danger or drive-by shootings. But a partly last night in the Newton section had plenty of danger when a drive-by shooter opened fire injuring at least seven people, according to police.

The shooting at 159 E. 36th Street occurred about 10:05 p.m. Friday,
according to Los Angeles police Sgt. Todd Cataldi of the Newton Street Station.

The most seriously injured appeared to be a woman who suffered a wound
to the back and was found on East 37th Street, he said.

All seven victims, taken to hospitals by paramedics or friends, were believed to be in their mid 20s, the sergeant said.

At least one other woman, shot in a finger, was among the victims, Cataldi said.

The names of the victims were unavailable early Saturday.

No immediate arrests were made.

The suspect vehicle was described only as dark-colored.
